Helping Hands – West Coast Artists for UNICEF is a one-of-a-kind compilation CD featuring songs by some of BC’s finest pop, jazz and folk performers, including Lee Aaron, Jim Byrnes, Dee Daniels, Shari Ulrich, the Michael Creber Trio, Edith Wallace, Marcus Mosely, Monique Creber, Jasmine Bharucha, Norman Foote and more. The title track was written by Grammy-nominated, Juno Award-winning Michael Creber, and brings together many of the fantastic vocalists featured on the album in an inspirational, gospel-tinged arrangement.

The Making of the CD – A Message From The Producers
In the aftermath of the December 2004 Asian tsunamis, we, like many others, had a strong desire to do whatever we could to help. That desire led to this compilation CD on behalf of UNICEF, and from concept to completion, it was quickly put together in just one month. We simply could not have pulled it off without a lot of very generous support from our musical friends. We are humbled by the talent that surrounds us, and sincerely grateful to each and every person who donated their time and music. It is our hope that this CD will continue to make a difference to children and families in need, wherever they may be. Special thanks go to Melanie Thompson, Jasmine Bharucha, Elizabeth Humphries, Joani Bye, Marcus Mosely, Nathen Aswell, Craig Waddell, Dale Leung, Stuart Temple, Penni Russell, Leslie Izzo, Kate Polsky, Shirley Kepper, Michelle Creber and the folks at Pacific Music.
The title track “Helping Hands” was recorded and mixed over the course of one marathon 20-hour session on January 31, 2005. Armoury Studios and everyone involved including the vocalists, musicians, producers, engineers and production staff all donated their time and talents, both in the studio and during the pre- and post-production process. Extra special thanks are due to Jane Dittrich, Paul Silveira, Rob Stefanson and Scott Fairbairn – we can’t think of a nicer bunch of people to stay up all night with!
